UCLA has signed Ryan Hofmeister, a linebacker from Riverside City College.
Hofmeister, 6 feet 2, 220 pounds, was an all-conference selection at Riverside after making 127 tackles. He had 1.5 sacks and 10 tackles for a loss.
"Ryan is a versatile athlete who can help us in several areas," UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel said in a statement. "He can play linebacker but can also play safety, giving us flexibility for different alignments. In addition, he is an outstanding special teams performer."
Hofmeister, who had 126 tackles and nine sacks in leading Vista Murrieta High School to the 2009 Southern Section finals, plans to enroll at UCLA in the Spring quarter and will have three years of eligibility remaining. His head coach at Riverside City College was Tom Craft, father of former Bruins quarterback Kevin Craft.
