Women's basketball: UCLA looks to remain perfect

These days, the noise coming from inside Pauley Pavilion is being made by the UCLA women's basketball team.

There's been plenty of it, too. One final obstacle tonight at home against Louisiana State separates the Bruins from carrying a perfect mark into Pac-10 play, which tips off Friday at Washington. LSU (9-4) has won five straight.

No. 8 UCLA (10-0) is off to its best start in two decades and is the highest-ranked Pac-10 team in the latest Associated Press poll. Conference powerhouse Stanford (7-2) is ranked No. 9.

The Bruins have six players averaging nine points or more, with junior forward Jasmine Dixon (11.9) and senior guard Darxia Morris (11.6) leading the way. UCLA's average margin of victory has been 14.2 points.

"We really focus on doing things the Bruin way," third-year coach Nikki Caldwell said. "I hold them accountable to this no matter if we were ranked 100th in the country."
