Like the UCLA women's basketball team, Jasmine Dixon is getting noticed. The junior forward was named Tuesday to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 20.
Through 14 games, Dixon is averaging a team-best 11.8 points and 6.2 boards. UCLA (13-1, 3-0 Pac-10), ranked No. 9 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, is off to its best start in 30 years. Dixon and the Bruins host the Oregon schools this weekend, beginning with Oregon State (7-8, 0-4) on Thursday night.
The Bruins rank No. 19 nationally in scoring defense, allowing a mere 53.6 points per game.
The winner of the Wooden Award will be announced at a ceremony on April 8.
