UCLA and baseball coach John Savage have agreed to a contract extension through the 2015 season.
Savage begins his seventh year at the helm Friday when the defending national runner-up Bruins open the season against San Francisco. UCLA has reached postseason play in four of Savage's six years. The Bruins recorded a program-best 51 wins last year, advancing to their first-ever championship series.
"We are very excited about the success of this program," athletic director Dan Guerrero said in a statement. "Under John's exceptional and passionate leadership, UCLA baseball is poised for long-term excellence."
The Bruins are ranked No. 1 in the ESPN/USA Today preseason poll.
"I am very appreciative to Dan Guerrero for his support of UCLA baseball," Savage said. "Not only are we excited about our upcoming season, but also about the long-term future of this baseball program. We look forward to building upon our success, returning to the College World Series and winning a national championship."
