Brett Hundley throws for the first time

Injured freshman quarterback Brett Hundley, recovering from offseason surgery to repair a torn meniscus, got his first action of fall camp Saturday morning when he threw passes on the sidelines to injured receiver Taylor Embree and injured F-back Anthony Barr.

Coach Rick Neuheisel said Hundley, a touted dual-threat quarterback who tore his meniscus in a pickup basketball game in June, ran on the treadmill Saturday and is nearing a return to live action. He hopes to have him back at some point next week.

"Brett is chomping at the bit," Neuheisel said. "He’s ticked off he can’t play, he wants to run."

Throwing will have to do for now, which is just as important, Neuheisel said.

"What’s key now is to get his arm back in shape," "We have to make sure he’s throwing to the extent that the knee will allow him. I think without any slowdowns, we’ll have him next week."
