Stover has a cartilage tear in his shoulder

UCLA center Anthony Stover has a partial cartilage tear in his shoulder, an MRI exam revealed, and coach Ben Howland expects Stover to miss at least two weeks.

The injury, which occurred during practice on Wednesday, was originally thought to be a dislocation or a subluxation.

"He’s going to rest it and rehab it and see how it goes when he comes back," Howland said. "As I said yesterday I’m just guessing a couple of weeks. It’s going to be a little while. Actually, when I saw him yesterday he said it was feeling better so I was optimistic."

Stover, a 6-10 sophomore, started 12 games last season, but averaged only eight minutes a game. A defensive specialist, he had 28 blocked shots.
