Senior pitcher Donna Kerr's bid for a no-hitter was broken up by a bunt single in the final inning of UCLA's 4-0 win against Washington on Thursday night.
It would have been Kerr's second no-hitter as a Bruin. She threw a perfect game as a freshman in 2008.
Kellie Fox had a three-run homer in the fifth to give Kerr and the 11th-ranked Bruins (30-9, 6-4 Pac-10) more than they would need.
Kerr (12-3) retired 17 in a row after walking Jenn Salling in the first inning. Ironically enough, Salling was the one that laid down the bunt single to open up the seventh.
The 4-0 victory was UCLA's seventh shutout of the season.
