DL Sam Tai out with torn ACL

SAN BERNARDINO -- UCLA defensive lineman Sam Tai tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during practice Sunday and will miss the remainder of the season, coach Jim Mora said Monday.

Tai, a redshirt freshman, was competing for playing time at defensive end.

"That's unfortunate," Mora said. " We were hoping that it was not going to be that."

Also, receiver Kenny Walker left practice after an asthma attack, reserve tight end Jordan Barrett missed practice with a bruised knee and offensive lineman Torian White also missed practice. White, expected to challenge for the starting right tackle spot, left practice Saturday with chest pains and was scheduled to see a doctor, but Mora said there was no further update.
