UCLA freshman Kelyn Rowe and former Bruin Amobi Okugo were named to the U.S. under-20 national team training camp roster Thursday.
Rowe became the Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and a first-team NSCAA All-Far West Region selection after scoring seven goals and registering a team-best 10 assists this season. Okugo was the 2009 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year before being chosen sixth overall in last year's MLS SuperDraft. He played in 11 matches with the expansion Philadelphia Union.
Training camp runs from Dec. 12-19 in Sunrise, Fla. The under-20 team is scheduled to play exhibition matches against Canada Dec. 16 and 18. The camp is a preparation for April's qualifying 12-team tournament in Guatemala City. The 2011 FIFA under-20 World Cup will be held in Columbia in mid-July.
