Lee, Barkley named to Camp Award watch list

LOS ANGELES -- USC Trojans is the only team with two of the top 15 players in the country, according to those who determine the Walter Camp Award watch list.

Two Trojans, quarterback Matt Barkley and receiver Marqise Lee, were named to the 15-man Camp watch list Tuesday. The award goes to the top player in college football. Nine quarterbacks and three running backs are nominated, as well as two defensive players and Lee, the lone receiver.

Former USC linebacker Jarvis Jones, who now plays for Georgia, and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o, who nearly played for the Trojans, are the two defensive players on the list.

Oregon running back Kenjon Barner, who torched the Trojans earlier this month, and UCLA running back Johnathan Franklin, their opponent this week, are the two other Pac-12 players nominated.

The five finalists will be announced on Nov. 28; the winner will be announced on Dec. 6 and receive the trophy at a presentation at Yale in January.
