Football: Cyrus Hobbi commits to USC

The nation's top-rated offensive guard, Cyrus Hobbi (Scottsdale, Ariz./Saguaro), committed to USC on Friday, bolstering the Trojans' 2011 recruiting class with only five days left until National Signing Day.

Hobbi was picking between hometown Arizona State, UCLA and USC. ASU had been rumored to be his leader, but he said in a press conference Friday that USC was far above the other two schools in his mind.

Hobbi becomes the third Trojan offensive line commit in the class of 2011. Cody Temple (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty) and Marcus Martin (Los Angeles, Calif./Crenshaw) are the other two players committed and expected to sign with USC on Wednesday, and linemen Jeremy Galten (San Mateo, Calif./College of San Mateo) and David Garness (San Francisco, Calif./City College of San Francisco) joined the team earlier this month as early enrollees.

USC remains in the mix for a number of highly touted prospects. Hobbi's commitment lessens the need for Lane Kiffin and Co. to focus on the offensive line.
