Halfway through the contest, neither Stanford nor USC is playing well.
Not even remotely well.
But behind 10 points and six rebounds from forward Nikola Vucevic, USC leads Stanford 27-26 at the break.
The Cardinal's Landry Fields leads all scorers with 14 points. Each team is shooting under 38 percent from the field. The teams have a collective 13 turnovers and 11 assists.
USC started off well, leading 22-9 at one point in the first half. But Stanford came roaring back to take a 23-22 lead, sparked by two unlikely 3-pointers from forward Jack Trotter.
Only four Stanford players have scored. All seven Trojans to play — including reserves Leonard Washington and Marcus Simmons — have scored.
Lakers general Mitch Kupchak and Clippers general manager Mike Dunleavy are in attendance — just below press row — scouting today's game. Kupchak appeared to be scouting Fields, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound Long Beach native.
