LOS ANGELES -- We're just about set to go here at the Coliseum for the Trojans' 5 p.m. PT game against the Stanford. Here are a couple of last-minute things worthy of an update before kickoff:
There are a lot more people here than normal. The USC campus and the area around the Coliseum was packed, and the school is expecting a sellout for the game. Fewer than 1,000 tickets were available as of Friday. The student section was almost completely full 30 minutes before kickoff. Also of note: the game-time temperature is 74 degrees.
Suiting up for the Trojans, as expected, is receiver Robert Woods, who's been bothered by unspecified injuries in practice this week. Running back George Farmer is in a walking boot and will not play tonight; he sprained his ankle in practice Tuesday and sat out the rest of the week.
Also expected to play is kicker Andre Heidari, who sprained his right ankle in the Notre Dame game last week and was limited in practice. He converted a number of 45-yarders in pregame warmups and also did some long-distance stuff from the opposing 40-yard line. It's likely that walk-on Craig McMahon will do the kickoffs and Heidari will do extra points and field goals, although Lane Kiffin will probably be more aggressive than usual in the red zone because of the injury.
Out for Stanford is safety Delano Howell, a senior who was second-team All-Pac-10 a year ago. The Cardinal replaced him with sophomore Devon Carrington last week against Washington.
