USC's Katinka Hosszu nominated for ESPY

USC junior swimmer Katinka Hosszu, a three-time NCAA champion and five-time All-American, has been nominated for an ESPY in the category of Best Female College Athlete.

The 2011 ESPYs will be broadcast live on ESPN at 6 p.m. PT on July 13 from the Nokia Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.

Hosszu, a participant in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, won the Honda Sports Award for swimming this season, given to the NCAA's top female swimmer. A native of Hungary, she was the only swimmer in the country to win three titles at this year's NCAA Championships.

She set an NCAA meet record in the 400-yard individual medley and led the Trojans' female swimmers to a third-place team finish at the meet, their best result since 2003. She was named Swimmer of the Meet at the NCAA as well as at the Pac-10 Championships, where she also won three titles.

Her five All-American honors in 2011 gave her 13 so far in her three-year career.

Hosszu also participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens as a 15-year-old. She won a gold medal in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2009 World Championships and earned bronze medals in the 200-meter individual medley and the 200-meter fly.

Voting for the ESPY's can be done on the award ceremony's official site here.
