USC quarterback Matt Barkley was named to the Davey O'Brien Award watch list on Wednesday for the third consecutive season.
The O'Brien goes to the nation's top quarterback each year. Barkley, now a senior and one of the favorites to win the award in 2012, lost out to Robert Griffin III and Cam Newton in the last two seasons.
As a junior, Barkley threw for 3,528 yards, 39 touchdowns and seven interceptions, completing his throws at a rate of just over 69 percent. All of his numbers have improved each of the three seasons he's started for the Trojans.
Watch list season is now almost over. The Doak Walker Award and Walter Camp Award lists will be released over the next two days.
