He's a long way from taking the mound -- he is in the playing catch portion of his rehab -- but pitcher Joel Pineiro plans to pitch again in 2010. He has been out since July 28 with a strained left oblique muscle. The initial prognosis was 6-8 weeks, but the Angels still aren't sure he'll pitch again this year.
Pineiro said he made about 50 throws from 90 feet Tuesday and felt just "normal soreness" on Wednesday.
"I knew from the beginning, I'd pitch again this year," Pineiro said. "I wasn't ready to go into the off-season yet. That was my goal and, so far, everything looks good."
