Amundson expected to rejoin New Orleans

The New Orleans Pelicans, even with Anthony Davis playing All-Star ball, have looked a bit thin in the frontcourt while veteran forward Ryan Anderson recovers from a toe injury.

To help address the issue, New Orleans is closing on the reacquisiton of veteran forward Lou Amundson.

Amundson's agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed to ESPN.com on Monday night that his client is headed back to New Orleans in a deal expected to be finalized Tuesday.

The Pelicans will have to make a roster move to create a spot for the 30-year-old, who had stints with Chicago and Minnesota last season in addition to appearing in 18 games for the then-Hornets.

Amundson went to training camp with the Los Angeles Clippers after working out at the Clippers' practice facility for much of the offseason, but he became a free agent again on the final cutdown day before Opening Night in late October when L.A. decided it wanted to carry only 14 players, one shy of the league maximum.
