NBA D-League player draft set for Saturday

The NBA D-League is holding its annual player draft Saturday afternoon, with ‎a handful of familiar NBA names on the board among the nearly 180 players available for selection.

Eleven players in that pool have prior NBA experience. In alphabetical order, they are:

Robert Covington, Andre Emmett, Carrick Felix‎, Ben Hansbrough, Luther Head, Erik Murphy, Chris Smith, Marquis Teague, Robert Vaden, Elliott Williams and Damien Wilkins‎.

Also eligible for selection are several players with familial ties to current or former NBA players. Ricardo Barbosa (Leandro Barbosa's nephew), Darvin Ham Jr. (son of Atlanta Hawks assistant coach Darvin Ham), Abraham Millsap (brother of Atlanta’s Paul Millsap and D-League’s Elijah Millsap), Todd Mayo (OJ Mayo's little brother), David Stockton (son of Hall of Famer John Stockton) and Renaldo Woolridge (former NBA stalwart Orlando Woolridge).

The aforementioned Hansbrough, Smith and Teague also all have brothers currently playing in the NBA (Tyler Hansbrough, J.R. Smith and Jeff Teague), while Wilkins ‎-- a nine-year NBA veteran -- is the son of Gerald Wilkins and nephew of the legendary Dominique Wilkins.

Prominent D-Leaguers whose team affiliations for the coming season are already known include Earl Barron (Bakersfield Jam), Renaldo Balkman (Texas Legends), Earl Clark (Iowa Energy), Manny Harris (LA D-Fenders), 2014 NBA first-round draft pick Josh Huestis (Oklahoma City Blue), Bernard James (Texas Legends), Mike James (Texas Legends)‎, Doron Lamb (Texas Legends), Ish Smith (Delaware 87ers)‎ and, as we reported Thursday night, former No. 2 overall NBA draft pick Hasheem Thabeet (Grand Rapids Drive).

Saturday's draft starts at 3:30 p.m. ET and will be live-streamed on NBADLeague.com.
