LMU to challenge in 2014?

We recently wrote that one of the schools closely pursuing Missouri transfer Michael Dixon was Loyola Marymount, and while there isn't any indication that Dixon is close to making his college decision, we have to believe that LMU's inclusion to a quarter that already lists Baylor, Colorado, and East Carolina is good news for Max Good and his staff. It seems like we write this rumor annually: watch out for LMU next season, they could be a dark horse team in the West Coast conference. Though Good has led the Lions to a winning record two of his five seasons, the squad drastically underwhelmed expectations during the WCC regular season, losing fourteen consecutive games before nearly sweeping the WCC postseason tournament. Some may contend that the Lions were close in all those fourteen losses -- ten of those tilts were losses by ten points of less -- but since Anthony Ireland, the conference's most under appreciated guard, only has one season of eligibility remaining, it's clear the staff knew next season was their best shot at upending conference play.
