Dolphins practice report: Soliai progressing

DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins continue their preparation for Monday’s big showdown with the undefeated New Orleans Saints.

Here are some notes from Thursday’s practice:

  • In somewhat of a surprise, Miami starting defensive tackle Paul Soliai (knee) practiced for the first time this week. On Wednesday Soliai only worked on the side with trainers. Soliai did individual drills Thursday in the portion of practice open to the media. However, practice was closed during team drills.

  • Miami Pro Bowl defensive end Cameron Wake (knee) participated in practice for the second day in a row. That's a sign that he’s trying hard to make it back in time for Monday’s game. Wake did individual drills for the second day in a row. He hasn’t missed a game for Miami since 2010 and that streak is in jeopardy.

  • The Dolphins were without starting cornerback Dimitri Patterson (groin) for the second day in a row. His chances of playing Monday appear slim. Nolan Carroll has started for Patterson the past two games against the Indianapolis Colts and Atlanta Falcons.
