DAVIE, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins, amid plenty of controversy, resumed practice Monday in preparation for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But a huge story Monday is the suspension of starting guard Richie Incognito, who reportedly threatened and harassed teammate Jonathan Martin.
Here are some notes from Monday’s practice:
Miami’s offensive line is down two members with Incognito suspended and Martin on hiatus. The Dolphins’ first team now consist of backups Tyson Clabo filling in for Martin and Nate Garner with Incognito. Both Clabo and Garner worked with the first unit during the open portion of practice.
Miami linebacker Koa Misi and Jelani Jenkins both worked on the side with trainers Monday. Miami cornerbacks Dimitri Patterson and Nolan Carroll also stayed on the side and didn’t do team drills in portion of practice open to the media. Rookie cornerback Jamar Taylor could get more reps this week in practice if Patterson and Carroll are slow to recover.
The Dolphins have until 4 p.m. ET Tuesday to decide on Martin’s immediate future. He’s currently on the non-football illness list. If Martin remains on it past Tuesday he cannot return this season.
