Here are some notes and observations from Friday's practice:
Dolphins starting guard John Jerry returned to practice after missing Wednesday’s session with a concussion. He did individual drills and was at least limited in the portion open to the media. Jerry’s status could be a game-time decision Sunday in Pittsburgh. If Jerry cannot play, backup guard Sam Brenner will take his place.
Miami starting cornerback Dimitri Patterson also took part in individual drills and was at least limited in the portion open to the media. Patterson missed the past two games with a groin injury. Patterson worked a lot in the early part of practice on his backpedaling and cutting.
Dolphins rookie cornerback Jamar Taylor (hamstring) was present Friday but worked on the side with a trainer. Taylor hasn't practiced all week and isn't expected to play on Sunday.
