W2W4: Dolphins at Bills

The Miami Dolphins (8-6) will put their three-game winning streak on the line Sunday when they travel to face the Buffalo Bills (5-9).

Here are three things to watch for Miami:

Weather factor: Inclement weather can be a great equalizer in December. The Dolphins proved two weeks ago in Pittsburgh that this year’s group can play in poor weather conditions. It appears Miami must do it again in Buffalo, where it is expected to be heavy rain and temperatures in the 50s. Ball security and winning in the trenches will be key. The Dolphins had three turnovers in their prior loss to the Bills in Week 7.

Beating Thad: The Dolphins will get their second crack at Miami native Thad Lewis. Buffalo’s backup quarterback was inserted into the starting lineup this week after Bills starter EJ Manuel (knee) was ruled out. Lewis beat Miami during his Week 7 homecoming. It was arguably the Dolphins’ worst loss of the season, especially coming off a bye week. Look for Miami’s defense to be more aggressive against Lewis in an attempt to take away his confidence.

Tannehill streaking: Speaking of quarterbacks, Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill is playing his best football at the right time. Tannehill had a passer rating of 94.2, 95.5 and 120.6 during the Dolphins’ three-game winning streak. Tannehill is making plays with his arm and legs in the process. The Dolphins have little margin for error, and Tannehill must continue to stay hot in these final two games.
