The Miami Dolphins have another tough challenge to fill Sun Life Stadium this year. However, television ratings are on the rise.
The Dolphins saw significant increases last weekend in nearly every key demographic compared to last year’s regular-season opener, according to a news release from CBS4 in Miami, which broadcasts the games. The highest ratings increases were among people age 18-34. The Dolphins drew an 11.3 rating in Miami, which is 93 percent higher than the 2012 opener. The 23-10 win against the Cleveland Browns also drew a 10.4 rating among people age 25-49, which is a 63-percent increase.
This is an interesting dilemma facing the Dolphins and new president Tom Garfinkel. There is definitely an increased buzz in Miami, but it remains to be seen whether that translates into putting fans in the seats at Sun Life Stadium. The business department for the Dolphins must come up with creative ways to capitalize on this increased interest.
