Lodi remains atop the AP prep football medium-schools' division poll

Lodi retained the No 1 ranking in the medium-schools’ division in the latest Associated Press high school football poll released on Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (8-0, 4-0 Capitol North) blanked Watertown Luther Prep 27-0 last week and received eight of a possible 10 No. 1 votes and 96 of a possible 100 points. Lodi also clinched a share of the Capitol North Conference title.

Mount Horeb/Barneveld (7-1, 5-1 Badger North) earned a hard-fought 35-28 victory over DeForest to move up one spot to No. 5. Lake Mills (7-1, 3-1 Capitol North) fell one spot to No. 10 after defeating Poynette 48-6.

Waunakee (8-0, 6-0 Badger North) moved up to second in the large-schools’ division poll after clinching a share of its third consecutive Badger North Conference title with a 62-0 trouncing of Baraboo. The Warriors finished with a running clock for the seventh time in eight games this season.

Sun Prairie (8-0 overall and Big Eight) moved up a spot to third after clinching a share of its second straight Big Eight Conference title following a 31-9 victory over Verona.

Monona Grove (8-0 overall, 6-0 Badger South) fell one spot to ninth despite rolling to a 63-35 victory over host Stoughton and earning a share of the Badger South Conference title.

Four-time defending Division 1 state champion Kimberly (8-0) received nine of 10 first-place votes to top the large-schools’ division. The Papermakers extended their state record winning streak to 64 games with a 37-0 victory over Kaukauna.

Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs (8-0) received all 10 first-place votes to remain ranked first in the small-schools’ division for the eighth week in a row.

The poll includes first-place votes in parentheses, season record, total points and last week’s ranking, as voted upon by a statewide panel of sports writers. Teams are arranged in three divisions of equal size based on current enrollments
