Phillies by the numbers: Phillies finish April with loss to Cards

The Philadelphia Phillies lost 9-3 to the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday.

David Buchanan gave up seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings to fall to 0-5 on the season, the worst record among all pitchers. Darin Ruf had the only multi-hit game for the Phillies and drove in a run.

After the Phillies got to Cardinals starter Tim Cooney early, the St. Louis bullpen allowed one hit and zero runs over 6 2/3 innings. The Cardinals' 2-4 hitters went 7-for-12 with six runs and six RBI.

The Phillies finished April with an 8-15 record, the team's worst in April since going 9-18 in 2002.
