T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports Choo should take batting practice with the big league club as soon as this weekend and then face live pitching in the instructional league. If all goes well, Choo "could return at some point during the postseason, possibly at the beginning."
Carlos Gomez was signed by the Rangers after Choo went down and has been tried in the leadoff spot along with Nomar Mazara and Delino DeShields. Choo remains the Rangers’ best leadoff option with a .362 OBP when batting at the top of the order.
It has been a frustrating season for Choo, who has made four trips to the disabled list and has been limited to 45 games with a .247 BA, 33 points below his career average.
