Fitting in Fedor for maximum coverage?

Fedor Emelianenko glove up soon in order to beat the late-year crush of UFC shows.

If you can't beat the bully, pick on his little brother. During an "MMA Live" segment last week, ESPN's own Franklin McNeil floated the idea that Strikeforce could go head-to-head with a rescheduled WEC event Oct. 10. The latter's main event of Donald Cerrone-Ben Henderson will suffer terribly in the media if Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers face off at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on the same night.

(The WWE will host an event there a week earlier. Hopefully, the smell will dissipate in time.)

Although Strikeforce rep Mike Afromowitz characterized the Fedor-Rogers booking as "just rumors," there may be something to the notion of getting Emelianenko gloved up soon: The UFC was planning a major Los Angeles show in late October, upward of three shows in November and big year-end bookings in time for the holidays -- all instances for which the UFC's media coverage likely would trump that of the Russian in ways Cerrone-Henderson couldn't.
