UFC 98 athletes get all-clear from commission

Fight authorities determined Lyoto Machida's beatdown of Rashad Evans at UFC 98 was on the level.

According to a report circulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday, 10 fighters from the UFC 98 card on May 23 were tested for evidence of illicit substance use: George Roop, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Krzysztof Soszynski, Kyle Bradley, Brock Larson, Frankie -- sorry, Frank -- Edgar, Chael Sonnen, Matt Hughes, Rashad Evans and Lyoto Machida.

All passed. More importantly, karate's resurrection as a valid combat solution wasn't tainted by any allegations that Machida won via "Winstrol-Fu." It's also worth nothing that the UFC hasn't seen a positive test since Chris Leben's in October of 2008, a sample collected -- with cringed expressions, no doubt -- by the promotion itself. (England has no athletic commission.)
