Because Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz is a big fan, country singer Randy Houser is headlining the inaugural Coach's Kickoff at Ford Field in Detroit Sunday.

There will be an autograph session with Lions players during the day, and Houser ends the night with a concert.

"I'm very excited about this. Football fans and music fans are basically the same people," said Houser, whose debut album was released in 2008. "My hope is to grab those fans who are on the middle of the fence and bring them over."

Schwartz spent 10 seasons working for the Tennessee Titans in Nashville, and that's where his love of country music began.

“I’m a Randy Houser fan, but missed him the last time he came through town,” Schwartz said in a statement. “I am thrilled he is going to be the headliner for our first event."

Houser said he's not a huge football fan but understands the importance.

"I'm an American, so that means I'm a football fan," said Houser, who played football, baseball and was on the high school rodeo team. "I always loved sports growing up, but music is what I love doing. I'm just very blessed."
