The Atlanta Hawks sport a preseason squad that includes 14 players who are locks to make the 2015-16 opening night regular season roster. That leaves one spot up for grabs in the preseason and forward Lamar Patterson might be the early favorite to win the job. From Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
- "Several Hawks veterans singled out Lamar Patterson when asked about the competition Monday. Al Horford, Jeff Teague and Kent Bazemore all mentioned Patterson when poised the question about training camp. 'Everybody is playing hard,' Teague said. 'Everybody is playing well. Lamar Patterson is playing well. He’s a skill player, making good shot, making good passes, playing good defense.' ... Patterson is in competition with Terran Petteway, Earl Barron, DeQuan Jones, Edgar Sosa and Arsalan Kazemi. The Hawks will lose the rights to any player who does not make the team."
Patterson was selected with the 48th pick in the 2014 NBA draft. Patterson played with Turkish side Tofaş Bursa during the 2014-15 season and he may head overseas once again if he doesn't make the Hawks' roster.
