Atlanta Hawks forward Ersan Ilyasova has announced on Instagram and translated by Eurohoops.net that he won't be available for Turkey's national team for the upcoming Eurobasket 2017 tournament.
Ilyasova wrote: "I am not in the physical or mental condition to help my national team. I have talked about the possibility of playing in the EuroBasket with the federation many times. Unfortunately, I will not be able to help our national team this summer."
Ilyasova stayed away from the court as a precaution, as he and his agent surveyed the free-agent market during the first two weeks in July. Ilyasova eventually decided to return to the Hawks when he signed a one-year, $6 million contract on July 21.
Ilyasova finished 2016-17 with the Hawks after they acquired him via a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. In 26 appearances, Ilyasova averaged 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds.
