COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU starting linebacker Shawn Doman suffered an appendicitis Friday morning and had emergency surgery Friday evening. The surgery went well, but he did not make the trip. Matt Ah You will start in his place.

Also, backup strong-side linebacker Daniel Sorensen suffered an ankle sprain Thursday in practice and also didn't make the trip.

Just a review about what's at stake in this game...

• Today's winner will still be in the hunt for a share of the Mountain West title depending on what Utah does. If Utah wins out, it's the conference champion. But if Utah slips up somewhere, the door opens for BYU, TCU or Air Force.

•Both of these teams are likely headed to a bowl regardless of the outcome of this game.

•BYU has an opportunity to put itself back into the BCS bowl hunt with a game against Utah looming.

•Air Force has a chance to match its win total from last season (9).
