This week’s Heisman Watch for the non-AQs essentially features two players. Take a guess who they are.
Case Keenum, QB, Houston. He only played a half against Texas State because the game was already out of reach. His stat line: five touchdown passes, 274 yards and just five incompletions. On the downside, he also had two interceptions. Also in the game, Keenum broke Kevin Kolb's career school records for completions with 1,098 and yards passing with 13,179.
Kellen Moore, QB, Boise State. He was unimpressive for most of the game against Virginia Tech, but his final drive heroics saved the Broncos. Moore was 23-of-38 for 215 yards and three touchdowns, but on that final drive, with 2 minutes left and no timeouts, he went 4-of-5 for 56 yards and threw the game-winning 13-yard touchdown pass to Austin Pettis.
Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada. Had 306 yards passing and two touchdowns against Eastern Washington, along with 60 yards rushing and another two scores.
Ricky Dobbs, QB, Navy. Maryland found a way to bottle him up, holding him to 2.2 yards per carry and just one touchdown, and stuffing him on fourth-and-goal to win the game. His short-lived Heisman candidacy is most likely over.
Bernard Pierce, RB, Temple. Was held to 75 yards on 20 carries and no touchdowns in a win over Villanova.
