BYU and Notre Dame announced a six-game series on Wednesday, with games set for 2012 and 2013 in South Bend, Ind.
The Cougars will play the Fighting Irish on Oct. 20, 2012, and make a return trip the following year on Nov. 16, 2013.
The other four games in the series will be played between 2014 and 2020. Two of the remaining games will be in Provo, Utah, and the other two in South Bend. Details will be announced at a later date.
BYU and Notre Dame have met in football six times, and the Irish lead the overall series 4-2. The Cougars are going independent for the start of next season. Athletic director Tom Holmoe had spoken about getting a series done with the Irish.
So far, BYU has Oregon State, Texas, Utah, Utah State, New Mexico State, Hawaii, Louisiana Tech, Idaho, San Jose State and UCF on the schedule for 2011.
With Notre Dame now added to 2012, BYU also has Oregon State, Hawaii, Utah, Boise State, Utah State, Georgia Tech and New Mexico State.
