TAMPA, Fla. -- Bobby Eveld started for South Florida at quarterback as expected, and the walk-on freshman looked pretty comfortable early on.
Eveld completed his first four passes, and offensive coordinator Todd Fitch wisely kept things simple for him. Eveld connected on a couple of bootleg throws and some quick slants. He had a longer pass sail just over the hands of Lindsey Lamar in the end zone, and tight end Andreas Shields dropped a pass on third down. USF had to settle for a long field goal.
But Eveld looks cool and collected, and he delivers a much more accurate ball than B.J. Daniels. The Bulls may have really found something with Eveld.
