Final: No. 19 WVU 55, Norfolk State 12

Hard to believe West Virginia was losing 12-10 at halftime with that final score, huh?

The Mountaineers came out in the second half and played the way everybody expected, reeling off touchdowns on five straight drives to ease to a 55-12 victory. West Virginia had no run game to speak of and was shaky on the offensive line in the first half. But that all changed coming out of halftime.

After tallying 143 total yards in the first half, West Virginia ended with 548 total yards. Geno Smith completed 19-of-33 for 372 yards -- the seventh best total in school history. He threw touchdown passes to four different receivers. Vernard Roberts and Dustin Garrison each ran for a score. The explosion in the second half has definitely eased concerns about what was supposed to be a high-powered offense.

Of course, Norfolk State absolutely killed itself with penalties -- 19 for 169 yards. The FCS team simply did not have the personnel to compete with West Virginia once the offense got going.
