Hawkins leaves Boise State

Drew Hawkins, a quarterback turned wide receiver, has decided to leave the Boise State football team due to a reoccurring injury.

Hawkins, a redshirt freshman from Boulder, Colo., recently suffered a concussion while playing in a recreational softball game. According to Boise State, Hawkins had suffered several concussions while participating in athletics. A release from the school states that it was a family decision for him to leave the football team.

Hawkins, who walked on to the Bronco football team prior to the 2008 season, is the brother of Colorado starting quarterback Cody Hawkins and the son of Colorado coach Dan Hawkins. Dan Hawkins was the coach of Boise State through the 2005 season.
