East Carolina running back update

I wanted to update the status of East Carolina running back Norman Whitley and Jonathan Williams.

Unfortunately, there is no update.

Coach Skip Holtz told me this weekend that grades won't be in until Monday and that he'll meet with both players this week. The Pirates begin fall camp on Thursday, so it's likely the fate of the team's top returning running back will be decided before then.

Both Whitley and Williams were suspended for unspecified violations of team rules. Neither player participated in spring practice. Williams was the team's leading rusher before he was suspended in October. Whitley went on to lead the team in rushing, but was suspended at the end of the season.

The Pirates do have three capable back in senior Dominique Lindsay, Kentucky transfer Brandon Jackson and senior J.R. Rogers. Coming into camp Jackson is the starter, followed by Lindsay, who is coming off a knee injury, and Rogers.
