Montee Ball a Heisman Trophy finalist

Congratulations to Wisconsin running back Montee Ball, who will go to New York City as one of five finalists for the Heisman Trophy.

Ball joins Baylor's Robert Griffin III, Stanford's Andrew Luck, LSU's Tyrann Mathieu and Alabama's Trent Richardson as finalists for the most prestigious award in college sports.

Ball leads the country with 38 touchdowns, which is just one shy of Barry Sanders' all-time, single-season FBS record. While the Badgers junior is unlikely to win the trophy -- sentiment seems to be running high for Griffin, while Richardson is a favorite among SEC fans -- getting to New York is an honor in itself. Ball is the first finalist from the Big Ten since Ohio State's Troy Smith won the award in 2006.

The Heisman will be awarded on Saturday night.
