Final: Miami 44, NC State 37

Wow, Miami.

This team is looking like it wants to line up against rival Florida State in the ACC championship game.

Let's get something straight -- Miami is not a flawless team. Far from it. Both NC State and Miami made oodles of errors in this one, but for the second straight week, the Hurricanes dug deep and found a way to win. At 3-0 in league play, the Hurricanes suddenly look like the team to beat in the Coastal Division. Al Golden is making his case for Coach of the Year. This is a pleasant surprise for Miami fans, and while it's a young team, it's also starting to find an identity, play with heart, and capture an audience again. For everything that Georgia Tech has lacked the past two weeks emotionally -- starting with passion -- Miami has had. It's been missing in Coral Gables, but this team has been fun to watch the past two weeks. They look like a bunch of young kids playing their hearts out and having fun.

NC State on the other hand, has been a disappointment. The Wolfpack had won three straight heading into Miami, but revealed little against unheralded nonconference opponents. We found out more today. NC State simply isn't as good as even those within the program had expected it to be.

And for the first time in a long time, Miami has exceeded expectations.
