SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Greetings from Notre Dame Stadium for the final time of the 2012 season, which, of course, means we have to wonder if we are witnessing a few more finales.
Is this the last time we don't see fieldturf inside this building? The stadium puts in a new surface every five years, and this is the last of that cycle, so if it doesn't come next year we might have to deal with (at least) five more years of this question.
Jumbotron? Hey, I've got to ask.
Bob Diaco? When you coach the No. 1 scoring defense in the country, you are probably going to get head-coaching looks. And that's a good problem to have.
We do know this is it for many of Notre Dame's seniors. Particularly Manti Te'o. Colleague Mark Schlabach asked me durning our pregame video what Te'o's legacy is, and it is hard to think of another player from the past 25 years who has made the kind of impact Te'o has, on and off the field. It will definitely be an emotional scene when he comes out of that tunnel for the final time, as well as for many of these fifth-year guys, who committed to the Irish after a three-win season and are now amidst a national title chase.
I'll be tweeting throughout the day's action, so be sure to follow along there. Any breaking news will be in the blog, with plenty of postgame material to come after the final horn.
Should be a good one. They always have been in this building during this season. Looking forward to what's in-store with Wake Forest.
