Louisville, Strong working on extension

Louisville might be keeping its man after all.

Athletic director Tom Jurich has said all along that he will pay Charlie Strong whatever it takes to keep the third-year coach with the Cardinals, and now the sides are negotiating an extension, according to colleague Brett McMurphy.

Strong was offered the Tennessee job, McMurphy writes, and is under a five-year deal at Louisville worth roughly $3 million per year.

As we have learned during silly season -- and especially Tuesday -- a lot can change in an instant. But the Big East's best team does, as of now, look to be in great position to retain its leader amidst much attention, a strong sign for a Louisville program on the rise.
