Taylor Martinez has yet to write the final chapter of a truly unique career at Nebraska, but the Martinez name will carry on in Lincoln even after the quarterback departs.
Another Martinez will suit up for Big Red in 2013 as Drake Martinez, Taylor's younger brother, verbally committed to Nebraska on Wednesday night. Drake is listed as a safety, a position Taylor also played in high school, but Drake rushed for 1,1613 yards and scored 34 touchdowns as a senior for Laguna Beach High School in California. He's also an outstanding return man.
Although Nebraska has a greater need on defense for the younger Martinez, it would be interesting to see what he could do for a loaded Huskers offense, especially with his big brother calling signals. Drake's father, Casey, told Rivals.com that his son will play safety for Nebraska.
Drake took an official visit to Michigan State last weekend and reportedly was set to visit Vanderbilt and Tennessee before settling on Nebraska.
