UNC vs. South Carolina in 2015

North Carolina will play South Carolina on Sept. 5, 2015 at Bank of America Stadium, the site of the Dr Pepper ACC Championship game, the Charlotte Sports Foundation announced on Thursday.

The fact this game is in Charlotte, which is aiming to become the ACC's home turf, is terrific for the league and the city. It's another step in having Charlotte become to the ACC what the Georgia Dome is to the SEC, and it's also another step toward an ACC-SEC matchup in the Belk Bowl. (Of course it would help if the ACC came out on the winning end in this game and any future games against the SEC in Charlotte).

“We are extremely excited to bring these national football powers and regional rivals together in Charlotte for college football,” said Will Webb, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, in a prepared statement. “Both North Carolina and South Carolina have a strong alumni presence in the region. This will be a tremendous game featuring a marquee matchup of ACC and SEC teams. We look forward to hosting the Tar Heel and Gamecock teams and fans in Charlotte.”
