A couple of late-week injury notes:
Syracuse freshman defensive end Brandon Sharpe won't play Saturday against Maine. He had to be helped off the field in the Northwestern game after suffering an injury on the wedge-busting unit on kickoff coverage. Syracuse hasn't given specifics on the injury. Sharpe has two sacks and a forced fumble this year.
UConn linebacker Scott Lutrus will miss his third straight game since suffering a stinger in the Ohio game, Randy Edsall announced today. Edsall also said that defensive end Lindsey Witten, who tops the nation in sacks, is still being slowed by a stomach virus but should play Saturday against Rhode Island.
Still no final word on Tom Savage, but Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said Wednesday night that his freshman quarterback looked OK in practice and should play at Maryland.
