Iowa offense gets the start it needs

After a dominant defensive performance at Penn State, Iowa needed today's game against Arkansas State to serve as a platform for an inconsistent offense to hit its stride.

Quarterback Ricky Stanzi had to build some first-half confidence, and that's exactly what he's done.

Stanzi has connected on two long touchdown passes as No. 13 Iowa leads Arkansas State 14-0. Former quarterback Marvin McNutt and Trey Stross both are emerging as weapons in the pass game, and Stanzi has connected on his first five attempts. He looks poised and in sync. That's exactly what Iowa needs heading into a tough stretch against Michigan and Wisconsin.
