Pascal Wehrlein and his passenger walked away unharmed from a scary crash during the Race of Champions on Sunday.
Wehrlein was racing fellow Formula One driver Felipe Massa in a Polaris Slingshot when the accident occurred during the event at the Marlins Park baseball stadium in Miami. Exiting the final corner, the new Sauber recruit appeared to lose control of his vehicle and crashed into the barriers separating the cars.
Having damaged his steering, the German then collided with Massa's car at the end of the straight, pitching him into a roll before coming to a rest against the perimeter barrier. Luckily, Wehrlein and his passenger were able to walk away unscathed.
Williams' Massa -- who was classified the race winner -- and his own passenger were also unarmed in the incident.
