Former Syracuse offensive coordinator Rob Spence has joined the Temple coaching staff as it wide receivers coach, both OwlScoop.com and the Philadelphia Daily News are reporting.
Spence replaces Kevin Gilbride Jr., who left earlier this month to become the offensive quality control coach with the New York Giants.
Spence spent just one season on Doug Marone’s staff before being fired in November. The Syracuse offense finished second-to-last in the Big East in scoring at 21.2 points per game and last in total offense.
Temple’s passing offense ranked 111th in the country with just 146.46 yards per game. Top receiver Joe Jones, who was a former running back, returns. He had 28 catches for 387 yards in 2009.
