Vols lose top defensive back

ESPNU 150 Watch List cornerback Mackensie Alexander (Immokalee, Fla.) has decommitted from Tennessee following a coaching change on the Volunteers staff, according to the Naples Daily News.

Alexander, who selected the Vols in January, is back on the market after former Tennessee defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator Terry Joseph bolted for Nebraska.

“I got real comfortable with Coach Joseph, and when he left for Nebraska it changed everything,” he said. “The foundation is not there. I don't want to go in with someone who doesn't know me.”

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect has also received scholarship offers from Arkansas, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Clemson, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Alabama, Miami-FL and South Carolina.

"I'm looking at everybody again. I'm going over all my options," Alexander said. He now plans to wait until January 2013 before selecting another school.

Tennessee still holds three pledges from junior prospects.
